  2. Why isn't the anthology being promoted as much this year?

  3. Anonymous, I wouldn't say that's true. We're running ads and doing a lot of social media promotion, and our submission numbers are up. Where haven't you seen us promoting, and where would you like to see us?

  5. If your piece is getting a "2nd reading," when will that show on Manuscript.Hub?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Anonymous, a "2nd reading" can mean a number of things -- someone entered the wrong rating the first time, one reader wanted another's opinion, a reader accidentally clicked the "submit" button twice, etc. But it's never an indicator that a poem has moved on to the next round.

Our guest judge does not use ManuscriptHub to select the final 50 poems; he will receive hard copies of the poems that have made it into the final round.

There's no way to tell if your poem will be moving on by looking at its status in ManuscriptHub. I know how tempting it is to try to look for clues, but, frustrating as it is, there are none to be found in our submission system. No one will know if they've made it into the anthology until late summer.

  9. Yeah, my recollection is that in years past things didn't start hopping until well past the solstice.

    Meanwhile, enjoy the crickets.

  12. BNP 2011 has a couple obvious prose poems, and a few more that - owing to their line length and/or sonics and/or line or stanza arrangement - might be considered such.

  15. September? is that anonymous in the know? that's a good deal later than usual

  16. Pretty sure that's not right. I think it's August.

    ReplyDelete
  17. It should be around the third week of August if we are able to make our final eligibility confirmations quickly. This will be dependent on how quickly finalists respond to our email.

Last year's announcement was August 6 (that was the day the list was posted; finalists were notified earlier than that), but there will be a slight delay this year.
